U.S. dollar plunges below 100 yen

    TOKYO, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar plummeted to a level unseen in about 12-and-a-half years against the yen in Tokyo on Thursday.

    At 5 p.m. Thursday in Tokyo, the dollar traded at 100.17-20 yen compared with 101.76-86 yen in New York and 103.07-09 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

    It moved between 100.02 yen and 101.70 yen, changing hands most frequently at 100.40 yen.

    The euro fetched 1.5564-5567 dollars and 155.94-98 yen, against late Wednesday's quotes of 1.5546-5556 dollars and 157.96-158.06 yen in New York and 1.5371-5373 dollars and 158.43-47 yen in Tokyo.
