BOGOTA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of American States' (OAS) Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza said Wednesday that the investigation into Colombia's military incursion into Ecuador is currently underway.

    Insulza said in Bogota that the OAS will analyze conflicting versions of Colombia's raid on the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) after it visited the site of the March 1attack.

    Ecuador and Colombia's governments have made differing statements as to how the attack was carried out, Insulza said.

    "We have verified the details provided by the Colombian side on Tuesday and we have Ecuador's arguments," he added.

    Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has said the FARC base in Ecuadorian territory was not a temporary establishment and it was a permanent base.

    An OAS investigation has found Colombia launched the bombs from its own territory and that the FARC base in Ecuador's Sucumbio province was established there many months ago.

    FARC's second-in-command Edgar Devia, better known by his alias Raul Reyes, and 22 other FARC guerrillas were killed in the cross-border raid.

    Ecuador severed diplomatic ties with Colombia following the attack and reinforced its military deployment along its border with Colombia. Venezuela, Colombia's northern neighbor, also condemned the attack and sent troops to its border with Colombia.
