TOKYO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- An avalanche in northeastern Japan's Iwate Prefecture on Saturday killed two climbers, Japanese media reported.
The avalanche, which happened at the east slope of Mount Gentagadake in Hachimantai city at about 12:30 p.m., hit an area of about 150 meters in length and width.
The two climbers, who had wireless positioning equipment with them, were found dead one hour later by other climbers at about 1 meter under the snow.
