YANGON, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Visiting United Nations Special Envoy Ibrahim Gambari met with Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win here Thursday afternoon, the state radio and television reported in a night broadcast.
Neither the Myanmar official side nor the U.N. resident office has so far disclosed details of the meeting.
Gambari also met with foreign diplomats here and resident representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Thursday, said the report.
Gambari arrived here earlier in the morning to renew his efforts for Myanmar's national reconciliation and democratic process.
The mission of Gambari, who is U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's special adviser on Myanmar, came after the Myanmar government announced on Feb. 9 a time table for holding a nationwide referendum in May this year to seek public approval for the completed constitution draft and a multi-party general election in 2010 to transform the military administration into a democratic administration in accordance with the government's seven-step roadmap to democracy.
The present mission is Gambari's fifth since he was appointed to the post in early 2006.
