KABUL, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Seven suspected insurgents have been detained during an operation of U.S.-led Coalition forces in Garmser district of southern Afghanistan's Helmand Province, a statement issued by the Coalition here Thursday said.
The forces, during the March 4 operation which targeted a Taliban leader, "found and detained seven individuals with suspected links to insurgent networks," it said.
Without elaborating, the Coalition said, the detained individuals "will be questioned on their involvement in Taliban weapon-facilitation operations as well as other extremist activities."
The multi-national Coalition forces, with majority a 16,000-strong U.S. troops, are deployed in Afghanistan for fighting militants and ensuring security.
The past weeks saw continued arrests of suspected militants from insurgency-active southern and eastern regions, indicating a growing military action against the anti-government networks in the post-Taliban nation.
