QUITO, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Three women members of Colombia's rebel group FARC captured in Ecuador will stand trial in the country as soon as they recover from their wounds, Defense Minister Wellington Sandoval said Wednesday.
Sandoval on Wednesday visited the three women, two Colombians and a Mexican, at a military hospital in the Ecuadorian capital Quito. They were injured in a Colombian attack on a base of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Ecuadorian territory Saturday.
The attack has sparked a diplomatic row between Colombia and Ecuador. Forty-eight hours after the incident, Ecuador broke off diplomatic ties with Colombia.
FARC's international spokesman, No. 2 figure Luis Edgar Devia, better known by the alias Raul Reyes, died in the attack against the largest guerrilla group in Latin America.
Sandoval said the women will be treated like other guerrilla troops arrested in Ecuador.
