LIMA, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Alan Garcia on Tuesday urged his Colombian counterpart Alvaro Uribe to give due redress to Ecuador for incursion into its territory Saturday.

"We desire a just and honorable end to this situation, for our dear friend, President Uribe, to give due redress and apologies to the Ecuadorian government," Garcia said after a meeting with visiting Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa.

Garcia added that Colombia had violated the universal principle of territorial sovereignty when its forces entered Ecuador to attack a camp of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC),the nation's largest rebel group.

"To keep silent would be to open the doors for this precedent to be repeated," Garcia told reporters, adding that this conflict must be solved by the two nations, and that no other nation should interfere.

"I believe that Venezuela, which has not been directly offended, should not intrude in this topic," he said.

Garcia also called for the Organization of American States, the Union of South American nations and the Group of Rio to make their presence felt via public statements backing a return to normalcy of Colombia-Ecuador relations.

Peru is Correa's first stop on a five-nation tour of South American nations to rally support for solving the row with Colombia.
