KABUL, March 3 (Xinhua) -- A suicide car blast targeted Afghan and the U.S.-led Coalition forces in eastern Afghanistan's Khost province Monday, killing at least four Afghan soldiers, a local military official said.

"It occurred near a joint compound of Afghan and Coalition forces at Ghambal area in Yaqubi district at around 4:30 p.m. (GMT1200)," Noor Mohammad told Xinhua.

A suicide attacker drove a Russian-made van full of explosive materials then blew it up in front of the under-construction military compound, killing himself and at least four Afghan soldiers, he said.

There are no casualties in Coalition forces, he added.

Taliban insurgents have yet made any confirmation.

Conflicts and Taliban-related insurgency had left more than 6,000 people dead in 2007, while observers predict more suicide attack and roadside bombing in 2008 in the post-Taliban Afghanistan.
