HANOI, Mar. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will host the AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) Women's Championship 2008 in southern Ho Chi Minh City in October, according to the Vietnam Football Federation(VFF) on Monday.
Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and Laos are in Group A, and Australia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines in Group B. This is the third time the AFF has assigned Vietnam to organize the Southeast Asian women's soccer championship, the VFF said.
At the regional women's soccer tournaments in 2004 and 2006 both held in the southern city, Vietnam finished second and first respectively.
At the AFF Women's Championship 2007 with the participation of Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos held in September 2007 in Myanmar, Vietnam ranked the third.
