RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Football teams Gremio, Parana and Coritiba classified on Wednesday to the second phase of the Brazil Cup.
The three teams from southern Brazil did much better in the rematch at home than in the first game as visitors, against clubs Jaciara, Trem and Tuna Luso, played on Feb. 13.
Gremio defeated Jaciara 6-0 on Wednesday in Porto Alegre, capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, with four goals by striker Perea, and two scored by Soares and Jean. That was a much more impressive score than the 1-0 victory in the first match two weeks ago
Parana beat Trem also by a landslide 4-0. The southern team, which had tied the adversary 0-0 in the first game in Amapa, northern Brazil, had each of its goals scored by a different member of the squad: Leo and Giuliano in the first half, Araujo and Massaro in the second half.
Coritiba, also headquartered in the state of Parana, closed the evening in the southern region with a 6-0 win over Tuna Luso. Following a 0-0 tie in the first game, strikers Henrique Dias and Keirrison hit the goal twice each, and had the help from Renatinho and Pedro Ken to complete the final massacre.
