ISLAMABAD, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan condemned the act
of the republication of cartoons in the Danish media that offended Muslim
feeling and sentiment, the Foreign Office of Pakistan said in a statement on
Wednesday.
"No civilized society should allow disrespect of the
belief system of other communities," said the statement.
The statement said that the republication of the
cartoons had deeply offended Muslim feeling and sentiment all over the world and
Pakistan condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the republication of
cartoons in Danish media.
It pointed out that such acts incited the already
growing Islamophobia in Europe and undermined the efforts being carried out by
the groups that were trying to bridge the gap between civilizations.
Terming the hurting sentiments of other religious
irresponsible, the statement said that the Danish government is under obligation
as a responsible government to stop the publication of the cartoons.
"We expect that the Western countries should equally
be sensitive to respecting the feelings of Muslims and should not allow insult
under the guise of freedom of expression," the statement concluded.
