JAKARTA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government is exploring opportunities to establish cooperation with Germany in the energy sector, Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said Wednesday.

"We are assessing possibilities of cooperation in electricity supplies or other resources," he said in a press conference at his office here after a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Steinmeier, who is also the vice chancellor, arrived Tuesday for a three-day visit during which he will meet President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan.

Hassan said the German delegation included a group of entrepreneurs who intend to have first-hand knowledge of business climate in the country.

The bilateral trade volume between Indonesia and Germany totaled 3.54 billion U.S. dollars in 2007. Indonesia also received18.5 million dollars of German investment last year.
