Special report: Tension escalates in
Iraq
BAGHDAD, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- An American soldier was killed and two others
were injured by a roadside bomb explosion in Diyala province in northeast of
Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.
A soldier assigned to Multi-National Division-North was killed and two
others were wounded when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in the province on
Sunday, a military statement said briefly without telling the exact location of
the attack.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of
next of kin, it added.
The latest death bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to some
3,960 since the outbreak of U.S.-led invasion in 2003,according to media count
based on Pentagon figures.
