LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. presidential
hopeful Barack Obama aced out former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter
for a "Best Spoken Word Album" award in the 2008 Grammy Awards, organizers said
Sunday.
Obama's album, "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming
the American Dream," was announced as a Grammy winner at a pre-show news
conference at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The 50th Grammy Awards show is
held in the center Sunday evening. In addition to Clinton and Carter, Obama aced
out spoken word recordings by actor Alan Alda and poet Maya Angelou, according
to the Recording Academy.
Obama is known as an orator, senator, groundbreaking
presidential candidate, and may have the current momentum in the Democratic
primary race, and now he can add "Grammy Award winner" to that list.
