Journalist shot dead in SW Pakistan

    ISLAMABAD, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- An unidentified gunman on Saturday shot dead a journalist in southwest Pakistan, the News Network International (NNI) news agency reported.

    The NNI quoted police officer Muhammad Akbar as saying that Dr.Chishti Mujahid was ambushed by a single assassin as he came out of his residence and was sitting in his car in Quetta, capital city of Balochistan province.

    No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far and the motives behind the killing were not clear.

    Chishti Mujahid wrote political diary in a weekly magazine "Akhbar-e-Jahan" and also columns on non-political issues. He was also a doctor working at a local private hospital.
