KABUL, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) together with the Afghan troops have treated more than 300 people suffered from cold-related diseases in west Afghanistan, a press release issued by the alliance said on Thursday.
"A combined team of doctors from Afghanistan National Army (ANA) and ISAF treated 120 men, 65 women and 152 children in Saheb Zadeh Village," the press release said.
Some ailments treated during the two-day operation were gastritis, respiratory problems, climatic pain, dermatitis, cardiac and ocular, said the press release.
The troops also distributed humanitarian aid to the affected people, it added.
Local media reports said heavy snowfall and persistent cold weather have claimed hundreds of lives in Afghanistan's western and central region over the past one month.
