NEW YORK, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chris Webber signed with his first NBA team, the Golden State Warriors Tuesday.

Webber said in a statement: "It is with great pride and humility that I announce my return to the Golden State Warriors. This organization and city has always had a special place in my heart because it is where my dream of being an NBA player first came true."

Webber was NBA Rookie of the Year with the Warriors in 1993-94. Leaving the team in the following season, he has played for Washington, Sacramento, Philadelphia and Detroit. Now, his career has come full circle.

Warriors executive vice president Chris Mullin said, "We're glad that Chris has elected to sign with our club and feel fortunate to add a player with his ability."

Webber, a five-time All-Star, owns career averages of 20.9 points and 9.8 rebounds in 822 games. The 34-year-old free agent forward will definitely add frontcourt depth to Golden State.

The Warriors waived injured guard Troy Hudson to make room for Webber on the roster.
