MELBOURNE, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Serbian Novak Djokovic trounced world No. 1 Roger Federer in straight sets in the semifinals of the Australian Open here on Friday.

The 20-year-old Djokovic came back from 3-5 in the first set and won the match at 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

"It's just an amazing and undescribable feeling to beat the No.1 player of the world, probably one of the best the sport (has) ever had, in straight sets," Djokovic said.

"I was able to deal with the pressure in the best possible way. And if you do that against the best player in the world, you should get the positive outcome, which resulted of course with the win tonight."

While Federer fell to his first straight-set loss in a Grand Slam tournament since a third-round defeat at the 2004 French Open.

"It was a tough game, a lot of ups and downs, but I think he made the more important points today. It was a bit unfortunate for me, but he did play well and served really well when he had to," said Federer.

"He covered the court well. He didn't give me much. I definitely wasn't as good on the defensive like I usually am," added Federer.

Djokovic had two breaks in the second set to take the second one. Federer tried to claw it back as he broke one game back but still unable to stop Djokovic for his second set win.

Federer, 26, who has won 12 Grand Slam titles, made a closer third set and lead at 6-5. But his Serbian opponent was not to be denied and force the match into tiebreak.

Federer had two chances to win the tiebreak but Djokovic rallied to the final victory with his powerful serves and concluded the match in two hours 40 minutes.

"I have on many many times when I didn't expect myself to win. So tonight's one of those nights where you're a little bit disappointed. But it's going to go over and I'm going to look forward to the rest of the year," said Federer.

Sunday's final will see Djokovic clash with France's Tsonga, who upset No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 in Thursday's semifinal.

"It means a lot to see some new faces in the finals. (Beating Federer) is amazing for the sports. I think the dominance of Federer and Nadal, as well, especially in the men's tennis, was just amazing the last couple of years. So I think it's great for tennis lovers all around the world to see something new," said Djokovic.
