JAKARTA, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia would strengthen its resistance against the global slowdown by ensuring a safe state budget, the country's Coordinating Minister of Economy Boediono said Wednesday.

The minister told reporters after an economic meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace that the improvement of the budget comprised a good handling of the budgets to the provinces and the balances between planning, spending and financing.

"For us the most important thing is to strengthen our resilience," he said. "If a storm comes we could not stop it. We must improve our house."

The state budget as the anchor of economic resistance must be secured. "Should that (the budget) is disturbed, nothing that we can do," said Boediono, adding that the condition of Indonesia's budget so far was safe.

At the same occasion, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani warned that with the projection of 6.4 percent growth this year, global recession was very possible to affect Indonesia's economic performance.

"Our response at the fiscal and monetary sides would be adjusted," she said.

The minster said that a response would be conducted based on some statistical data, including the balance sheet at export and import of industry and real sector.

The United States is the second main destination of Indonesia's export after Japan. The slowdown of the United States's economy is predicted to decrease Indonesia's export volume.

Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said Indonesia would work to diversify its export destinations, looking for other markets that are not affected by the recession, such as Asia, India, China and the Middle East.

Besides, the minister said that it was necessary to anticipate soaring oil price which may lead to high price of other products.
