BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- O.J. Simpson, the former U.S. football star acquitted of murdering his wife, returned home in Miami on Thursday though district judge doubled his bail to 250,000 U.S. dollars Wednesday.

Tom Scotto, Simpson's friend, raised Simpson's bail with four other friends. Scotto greeted Simpson after his arrival at Miami International Airport and escorted him to a waiting sport utility vehicle.

Simpson was released from jail after 11 p.m. Wednesday after he received a tongue-lashing from Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass.

Glass claimed that Simpson was arrogant or ignorant or both in court. She also warned Simpson that if he disobeyed the court order again, he would be sent directly to the slammer.

Simpson, famously acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and her friend, faces an April 7 trial over a confrontation at a Las Vegas hotel in September when he allegedly robbed two sports memorabilia dealers.

Simpson and two other men are to face trial April 7. They have pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, coercion and conspiracy charges.
