BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhuanet)-- Cate Blanchett won the
supporting actress Golden Globe on Sunday for her role as one version of singer
Bob Dylan in the movie "I'm Not There."
Six actors played incarnations of Dylan in "I'm Not
There", but Blanchett's performance was a spot-on rendition of the musician
during the transition from acoustic to electric that infuriated his folk fans.
A previous Globe winner for 1998's "Elizabeth," Blanchett
also had a best dramatic actress nomination for "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," a
16th century drama in which she plays a role as the British monarch.
The winner was not on hand to accept the award due to the
two-month-old strike by the Writers Guild of America.
The planned three-hour star-studded bash was reduced to an
hour-long news conference.
The fate of Hollywood's biggest night, Oscars awards on
Feb. 24, remains uncertain as Guild leader Patric Verrone said writers would not
be allowed to work on that show, either.
Oscar organizers insisted their show will come off as
planned, with or without the writers.
