Cuban boxing great forecasts good results for Cuba in Beijing

    HAVANA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cuban three-times Olympic gold medallist boxer Teofilo Stevenson said on Friday that his country's boxing future is assured and forecasted "great results" in the forthcoming 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

    Stevenson said he is sure that "Cuban boxers will have great results in the forthcoming Olympic Games."

    "All our boxers will qualify in the Olympic qualifiers," said Stevenson, heavyweight gold medallist in Munich 1972, Montreal 1976and Moscow 1980.

    Cuba is currently getting ready to compete in the Olympic qualifier to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from March 7 to 16 and seeks to earn Beijing 2008 Olympic Games' tickets in 11 divisions.

    Stevenson said that despite Cuban national team boxers' inexperience they will demonstrate their quality.
