LONDON, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The London market opened higher, helped by a
late rally on Wall Street, and the FTSE 100 index was up 36.9 points at 6,372.6
by 0930 GMT.
Mining shares rose and retailers also gave the market a lift as they
rebounded from Monday's sell-off.
Property firm Savills rose 7.7 percent after saying that its 2007 full-year
results were set to beat expectations.
Budget airline Easyjet fell 5.5 percent to 505 pence after it released its
latest monthly figures with passenger numbers during December up 9.9 percent on
a year ago, while the load factor down 78.9 percent from 81.2
percent.
