WARSAW, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will pay a visit to the Czech Republic on Jan. 10 to discuss the U.S. anti-missile shield, the government information center said on Friday.

    Tusk and Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek will probably coordinate their stand on the U.S. missile and radar base in their countries, Polish news agency PAP reported, adding they will also discuss energy security, the EU and the latest developments in Russia and Ukraine.

    The two prime ministers are scheduled to visit the United States in the near future. Topolanek will be in Washington from Feb. 27 to March 1, and Tusk will visit Washington a month earlier, according PAP.

    The U.S. plans to install interception missile launchers in Poland and a radar station in the Czech Republic in a move to prevent threats from such countries as Iran. Russia has been against the plan and so far U.S.-Russian consultations have brought no results.

    Tusk's government signalizes it will take a tougher stand in negotiations on the shield. Polish government representatives have stressed the need for U.S. assistance in strengthening the country's air defense by installing Patriot rockets in Poland.

    Tusk made it clear in December that his country will not consent to the U.S. base on its soil unless it gets "one hundred percent" guarantees that it will serve Poland's national security.
