(ANSA) - Sirmione, January 2 - Police
found a hoard of ancient artifacts, many of them plundered from pre-Roman Greek
sites in southern Italy, in the home of a 58-year-old woman in this northern
city on Wednesday.
The 300 objects included more than 30 terracotta vases, five amphorae,
several sculptures and bas-reliefs and a collection of Greek jewelry.
Police are trying to put a value on the haul.
The woman, who is retired and lives alone, has been cited for receiving
stolen goods and breaking heritage laws.
