(ANSA) - Sirmione, January 2 - Police found a hoard of ancient artifacts, many of them plundered from pre-Roman Greek sites in southern Italy, in the home of a 58-year-old woman in this northern city on Wednesday.

The 300 objects included more than 30 terracotta vases, five amphorae, several sculptures and bas-reliefs and a collection of Greek jewelry.

Police are trying to put a value on the haul.

The woman, who is retired and lives alone, has been cited for receiving stolen goods and breaking heritage laws.
