    BAGHDAD, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- An American soldier died of non-combat related injuries in Iraq, the U.S. military said on Monday.

    The Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldier died on Sunday, a military statement said without providing further details.

    "The incident is under investigation, and the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin," the statement said.

    The soldier's death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,900 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
