HANOI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- PV Power, affiliated to state-run Vietnam
National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), will pour some two billion U.S.
dollars into building a hydroelectric plant with capacity of 1,410 mw in Laos,
local newspaper Investment reported Wednesday.
The power project in the form of build-operate-transfer is scheduled to
become operational in 2014, generating between seven and eight billion kwh of
electricity each year. Most of the electricity will be sold to Vietnam.
PV Power is developing some gas turbine power plants in Vietnam's southern
region, and hydroelectric plants in the country's central highlands
region.
