ISLAMABAD, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has urged the nation to translate the motto of "Unity, Faith and Discipline" into reality and raise Pakistan's stature as desired by the father of the nation.

In a message Monday on the birth anniversary of Pakistan's founder Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Musharraf said that the day "reminds us to work in the right direction resolutely and untiringly."

"We also need to work collectively for bringing about a qualitative change for the betterment of people of Pakistan and for the greater glory of Pakistan," he said.

Musharraf said it was a matter of great satisfaction and reassurance that during the last eight years that "we have been able to initiate measures that will go a long way in establishing a prosperous and dynamic Pakistan, as envisioned by the Quaid (leader)."

He said, "I want to reiterate on this occasion that we consider the security and well being of all citizens of Pakistan as our sacred trust and we shall spare no efforts to ensure it."

He said the day was an occasion to not only pay homage to Quaid's efforts, vision and leadership qualities but also refresh the commitment to redouble efforts to make Pakistan a prosperous and dynamic Islamic welfare state, as envisioned by him.

"We owe it to the memory of our great leader that Pakistan emerges as a modern dynamic welfare state, a role model for the Muslim Ummah and earns its rightful place in the comity of nations," Musharraf said.
