ABIDJAN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- More than 30 people were killed and about 60 injured in a traffic accident on Wednesday on the trunk line linking Cote d'Ivoire's Bouake and Katiola, local media reported Thursday.

According to the report, on Wednesday morning, a bus collided head-on with a large truck 18 km north of Bouake. The injured were taken to Bouake hospital for treatment.

Police in Cote d'Ivoire have conducted an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Passengers on the bus are from Burkina Faso's colony, who were prepared to go to their ancestral homeland to celebrate traditional Muslim festival.

In Cote d'Ivoire, traffic accidents frequently take place due to the dilapidated road conditions.
