KATHMANDU, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- As an important part
of "China Tibetan Culture Forum-Kathmandu", "Multi-colored Tibet" Photo
Exhibition was inaugurated Thursday afternoon here in the city hall.
Nepalese Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil
Aviation Prithvi Subba Gurung, Chinese Vice Chairman of the Tibetan Committee of
the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Basang Thundrup, and
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin attended the opening ceremony.
Gurung said in his remarks that this exhibition will
be a milestone in attaining the real sustainable development in the two friendly
countries and further enhancing cultural relations at people's level.
It will also contribute in materializing the immense
potentials of both countries especially to boost up tourism industries in
achieving our common goals and mutual benefits, he said.
In his speech, Basang Thundrup said that as an
important part of the Chinese civilization, the Tibetan culture embodies the
characteristics of the plateau and unique geographic feature.
He expressed the hope that this forum and exhibition could become a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Nepal and China, especially China's Tibetan region, so as to enhance the friendship of the two peoples.

Ambassador Zheng said in his speech that China and
Nepal are close neighbors and enjoy long-standing cultural ties. Nepal and
China's Tibetan region have extensive and close exchanges and cooperation.
With the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on July
1, Tibet is brought closer to the world. This exhibition is rich in content and
diversified in form and will enable more Nepalese friends to appreciate the
profound connotation and unique charm of Tibetan culture, and help boost
cultural exchanges and traditional friendship between the two countries.
Co-organized by China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture and Arniko Society of Nepal, the three-day exhibition presented nearly 200 photos and pictures on Tibetan natural scenery, ethnic traditions, religions and cultures, and was attended by nearly 250 representatives of other countries in Nepal and Nepalese people from various circles.
