BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Britney Spears' younger sister Jamie-Lynn Spears, 16, is pregnant.

Jamie-Lynn, star of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101," told OK! Magazine about the news during an interview scheduled to hit newsstands Wednesday.

The high school student, who lives in Louisiana, said the baby's father is Casey Aldridge, her boyfriend whom she met at church.

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Spears broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving, the magazine reported.

"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," Spears said. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."

Jamie-Lynn had not yet told Britney the news that she is expecting. But the big sister may not be the best source of parenting advice.

The 26-year-old pop star lost primary custody of her two sons, aged 2 and 1, to ex-husband Kevin Federline after their divorce last year and is engaged in a bitter custody battle that has shone a harsh spotlight on her maternal shortcomings.

"We respect Jamie-Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being," said a spokesperson of the kid show "Zoey 101" in a statement.

"Zoey 101," which wrapped production on its fourth and final season in September, revolves around a headstrong student at a co-ed boarding school in California. Fresh episodes will air through 2008.
