BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. government fabricated the so-called "political contribution case" in Argentina in an attempt to drive a wedge among Latin American countries, said Argentina's chief of cabinet Alberto Fernandez on Sunday.

    The United States has failed in establishing hegemony in Latin America, as the region has been making positive progress in the process of integration, said Fernandez, adding that Washington therefore cast about ways to fabricate factors of instability and to spoil solidarity among Latin American countries.

    He called on these countries to be on high alert and avoid falling into the U.S. trap which may lead to faction.
