David Beckham's 6 hours in Beijing
BEIJING, Dec. 24 -- Top British football player
David Beckham made a whirlwind visit to China on Dec. 24 as a Motorola
ambassador.
Despite England's loss at Euro 2008 Qualifier, Chinese
fans welcomed the superstar with applause, flowers and screams. They also
discovered one vital difference between him and his celebrity wife - he kept
smiling!
After arriving at the airport around 10:30am, Beckham
first appeared at the launch conference of a luxury-edition mobile phone at
Beijing's Kerry Center Hotel at noon. He answered only two questions from
reporters, first, that Victoria didn't come with him because she is rehearsing
for her Spice Girl's concert, and secondly that he will continue to serve
England although it is not going to compete in Euro 2008.
Later, the star took an interview from Chinese web portal
sina.com, spent one hour filming a variety show for Hunan Satellite TV Station,
and left China around 3 o'clock.
