MOSCOW, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- United Russia, President
Vladimir Putin's party, won 64.3 percent of the votes in the elections to the
State Duma, the lower house of parliament, as final official results were
announced on Saturday.

United Russia obtained 64.3 percent of the vote and
won 315 parliamentary seats, the Communist Party 11.57 percent and 57 seats, the
Liberal Democratic Party 8.14 percent and 40 seats, and Fair Russia 7.74 percent
and 38 seats, Stanislav Vavilov, a deputy chairman of the Russian Central
Elections Commission, was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.
Support for United Russia was highest in the Chechen
republic, standing at 99.36 percent of the vote and Ingushetia at 98.72 percent,
Vavilov said.
The Communist Party enjoyed highest support in the
Tambov region -- 19.17 percent and the Oryol region -- 17.58 percent; the
Liberal Democratic Party in the Magadan region -- 15.41 percent and the Chita
region --15.03 percent; and Fair Russia in the Astrakhan region -- 20.17
percent, and St. Petersburg, with 15.13 percent.
Russia held parliamentary elections on Dec. 2 when a
total of 11 parties took part in the elections, with more than 4,000 candidates
vying for the 450 seats. Eligible voters totaled 108 million and the turnout
exceeded 60 percent.

President Vladimir Putin is still leading in the elections of the State Duma,
the lower house of parliament, with more than half the votes counted early

Four parties enter Russian State
Duma
MOSCOW, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Four Russian parties won enough
ballots in Sunday's elections to clear the seven percent threshold for entering
the State Duma, the lower house of parliament.
The four parties, out of the 11 parties in the
run-on, include the United Russia, the Communist Party, Liberal Democratic Party
of Russia (LDPR) and the Fair Russia, preliminary results showed. Full story
Putin congratulates United Russia on
election victory
MOSCOW, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir
Putin has congratulated the United Russia on its victory in the State Duma
elections, Russian media reported on Sunday.
"Putin congratulated the United Russia on the victory
and thanked the State Duma members for their work in the past four years. He
said this work is efficient," leader of United Russia and State Duma Speaker
Boris Gryzlov said on the Vesti-24 television channel. Full story
Russia's Communist Party to protest
election manipulations
MOSCOW, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Communist Party leader
Gennady Zyuganov said that his party will carry out nationwide protests against
the alleged manipulations in Sunday's elections for State Duma, the lower house
of parliament.
"I wish to appeal to the government -- stop it, you
are simply abusing the entire country," Interfax news agency quoted Zyuganov as
saying at the Communist Party headquarters. Full story
