Special report: Pakistani Situation

   　ISLAMABAD, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Former Prime Minister and PML-N party leader Nawaz Sharif Friday urged Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Benazir Bhutto to set a cut-off date for restoration of judges deposed under emergency.

    Sharif admitted that the All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDM) and the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) could not reach any conclusion for giving a Charter of Demands to the government due to differences over the issue of judges.

    He was talking to journalists before meeting with ambassadors of certain countries in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.

    He said that PML-N wanted to give a deadline before the elections while the PPP wanted it after the elections.

    Sharif was of the view that Bhutto ought to take a final decision on the issue of restoration of judiciary before flying to Dubai.

    He said that the reinstatement of judges was the top of the demands list of the APDM.

    He said that unfortunately, the unanimity could not be made with the PPP on the issue of reinstatement of judges yet, therefore, there were still some differences among the parties of the eight-member committee on the charter on demand.

    However, he said that no stone would be remained unturned to forge unanimity among the component parties of APDM and ARD on all the issues.

    Meanwhile, Sharif said that he would not knock at the door of the judiciary to file a case against the rejection of his nomination papers because the judges, who have taken oath under the Provincial Constitutional Order (PCO), were not the judges of the nation but in fact, they were judges of President Pervez Musharraf.
