    BEIJING, Dec. 5 -- Distinct from ordinary vehicles, wedding cars are usually decorated with flowers to convey an auspicious and happy message. But a wedding motorcade in Wenzhou took on a distinctive aura with the somewhat unique use of fresh fruit, such as grapes and bananas, as ornaments.

    Local newspaper Wenzhou Evening News reported that a dozen wedding cars dressed with 150 kilograms of beautiful fruit on Monday afternoon aroused great curiosity from pedestrians in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang.

    The bride, surnamed Chen, told the newspaper that she thought it was a waste to purchase fresh flowers at several thousand yuan and then discard the useless decorations. In contrast, she could give the fruit away as gifts to her friends and relatives after the wedding ceremony.

    In addition, she thought the colourful motorcade carried the lucky message of a "fruitful" marriage.
