MANILA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two mild earthquakes rocked NorthernLuzon and Eastern Visayas in the Philippines early Sunday, local television network GMA News quoted the United States Geological Survey (USGS) as saying.
The USGS said the first predawn quake rocked Samar province in Visayas in central Philippines, but no damage or casualty was reported.
The USGS said the quake measured magnitude 4.8 and was recordedat about 02:58 local time (1858 GMT Saturday), with its epicenter traced 160 km north-northeast of Guiuan town in Eastern Samar province, 180 km northeast of Tacloban City in Leyte and 615 km east-southeast of Manila.
The second quake was recorded at 06:53 (2253 GMT Saturday) and the epicenter traced 160 km north-northeast of Ilagan, Isabela in northern Philippines, 200 km east of Laoag, Ilocos Norte and 455 km north-northeast of Manila. The report did not mention its degree of magnitude.
A Magnitue-4.2 earthquake rocked Metro Manila last Tuesday with its epicenter traced 77 kilometers from Pangasinan area in northern Philippines. No casualty or damage was reported.
