HANOI, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government has recently handed over a number of remains of American soldiers who died during the Indochina War in the country to representatives of the U.S. government, for analysis and return to their families.

    Lao and U.S. technicians found the remains after excavating some sites in the two provinces of Attapeu and Khammuan in southern Laos between Oct. 18 and Nov. 20, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported Tuesday.

    So far, the Lao government has handed over the remains of 224 U.S. soldiers who died during the war in Laos to the U.S. government. They were among 572 U.S. servicemen reported missing in action by the U.S. government following the war in Laos in the 1960s and 1970s, the newspaper said.
