HANOI, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet will pay a state visit to Japan from Nov. 25 to 29 in an attempt to promote bilateral ties and cooperative relations between the two countries, a government spokesman said Thursday.
The visit, the first of a Vietnamese state president to Japan since their diplomatic relations establishment in September 1973, will be a new driving force for stronger political foundation and trust between Vietnam and Japan, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung.
The trip will help expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially trade, investment and official development assistance.
Triet will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, meet with Japanese Emperor Aikihito, the Japanese president of theHouse of Representatives, the president of the House of Councilorsof Japan, representatives of Japanese economic groups, and will also visit some Japanese localities.
Triet will be accompanied by government officials including Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc and Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Van Phong, and representatives from over 120 big Vietnamese enterprises, the spokesman said.
