BEIJING, Nov. 19(Xinhuanet) -- Hollywood filmmaker Tim Burton is to set to make
a 3-D version of Lewis Carroll's classic, "Alice in Wonderland" for Disney
studios, media reported Monday.
The eccentric American director's film credits
include "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Big Fish," "Sleepy Hollow" and
"Edward Scissorhands."
His latest project, a film version of the Stephen
Sondheim musical "Sweeney Todd" starring Johnny Depp, is to hit movie theaters
before the end of the year.
"Alice" will combine performance-capture imagery with
live-action footage, according to media reports.
Burton, the youngest recipient of the Golden Lion for
career achievement at this year's Venice film festival, will also make an
animated version of his 1984 film "Frankenweenie," in which a man brings his
dead dog back to life.
