    TBILISI, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has accepted Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli's resignation and named Lado Gurgenidze, chairman of the Bank of Georgia's supervisory board, as a candidate for the post.

    "Lado Gurgenidze will soon propose the new Cabinet that will be approved in keeping with all due procedures," Saakashvili said at a briefing at the state chancellery. Full story

Saakashvili promises democratic, transparent presidential election in Georgia

    TBILISI, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili said on Friday that the presidential election slated for January will be democratic and transparent.
