China's top political advisor meets Spanish crown prince

    BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met here Friday with visiting Spanish Crown Prince Felipe de Borbon y Grecia.

    Jia called for a stepped-up bilateral strategic partnership.

    Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), expressed appreciation for the active role played by Spain's royal family in boosting relations, which are at "their historical high".

    "Bilateral cooperation has already expanded to unprecedented fields and levels", Jia said, adding that visits by Spanish King Juan Carlos I and the First Deputy Prime Minister, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, had further reinforced the cooperation.

    China greatly appreciates Spain's understanding and support on the issue of Taiwan and efforts to boost China-EU relations, Jia said. Jia expressed the belief that the comprehensive strategic partnership would continue to grow.

    The Spanish crown prince said Spain was satisfied with the rapid growth of bilateral relations in recent years, and hailed enhanced politically mutual trust.

    The booming Chinese economy would be a magnet for Spanish entrepreneurs and Spain would continue to foster cooperation in such fields as trade and culture, the crown prince said.
