BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tian Congming, president
of China's Xinhua News Agency, met here Monday with Frank Gonzalez Garcia,
president of Cuba's Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina.
The two sides had a good conversation on promoting
cooperation between Xinhua and Prensa Latina.
Tian said Xinhua has maintained friendly relationship
of cooperation with Prensa Latina.
On the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Tian said
Xinhua is the news agency of the host country officially authorized by the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) and also serves as the national
photography team. Xinhua will do its best to provide convenience to its foreign
peers, including Prensa Latina.
Gonzalez said Prensa Latina attached great importance
to the friendship and cooperation with Xinhua. He said he hoped the visit could
help step up bilateral ties to a new height.
Impressed by the multimedia database and the
multimedia means used in news reporting by Xinhua, Gonzalez congratulated Xinhua
on applying advanced technology in news reporting.
After the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed
between Xinhua and Prensa Latina.
Xinhua Vice President Zhou Xisheng attended the
meeting.
Founded in 1959, Prensa Latina is the state news
agency of Cuba. It now has 25 correspondents' offices in the world.
