President Kaczynski stressed during a ceremony in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw that Poland regained independence in 1918 after 123 years of having been partitioned by three foreign powers. He said the independence was not a miracle.

"It was a result of taking advantage of a proper moment in international situation as well as a result of hard work and struggle of Polish politicians and soldiers," Polish PAP news agency quoted Kaczynski as saying.

On 11 November 1918, Poland restored independence after 123 years of partitions by Austro-Hungary, Prussia, and Russia.
