    FAYYUM, Egypt, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- More than 140 Egyptian and American paratroopers on Thursday carried out a joint airborne operation in Fayyum, a governorate south to Cairo as part of a multinational joint training exercise dubbed Bright Star 2007.

    Major General Esmat Morad, commander of Egyptian paratroopers, said at a press conference that after a 15-hour flight from Fort Campbell, Kentucky onboard two C-17s, 29 Egyptian paratroopers and112 American paratroopers from U.S. Central Command's five components (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Special Operations) landed here and implemented the tactical airdrop.

    The jump started from the height of 1,500 feet (about 457 meters), with the speed of six meters per second and the complete duration of two minutes, Morad added. Full story
