HANOI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh will pay an official visit to South Korea on Nov. 14-16, according to Vietnam News Agency on Wednesday.
The visit will be made at the invitation of South Korean President Roh Moo-huyn. Vietnam and South Korea, establishing diplomatic relations in December 1992, frequently exchange high-level visits, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and the bilateral cooperation, said the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Over the past 15 years, South Korea has been Vietnam's top five economic partners of Vietnam, said the ministry, adding that the two countries set up the Vietnam-Korea Joint Committee for Economy, Science and Technology to promote the bilateral economic cooperation.
The two countries have signed some important deals, including the Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in 1993, the Aviation Agreement in 1993, the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation in 1994, the Treaty on Extradition and the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters in 2003, and the Agreement on Non-Refundable Assistance and Technical Cooperation in 2005.
