HONG KONG, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Secretary for Home
Affairs Tsang Tak-sing said Wednesday the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region (HKSAR) Government will consider commissioning an agency to conduct a
city-wide survey and compile a comprehensive intangible cultural heritage
inventory.
Tsang told lawmakers that the University of Science
and Technology has conducted a pilot study on Hong Kong's intangible cultural
heritage.
He said that 34 out of the 78 intangible cultural
heritage items listed by Guangdong province have existed and developed in Hong
Kong. The HKSAR government is examining the report and will consider
commissioning an agency to compile a comprehensive inventory.
On the Hong Kong Memory Project, Tsang said the
working group on the project has been liaising with libraries, museums and
archives for the collection, preservation and presentation of documentaries in
digitized format.
The web-based platform will be implemented in phases
and the first test version will be available in 2010, he added.
