PHNOM PENH, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Tuesday that they will draft a ten year plan on the strategy of de-mining mines and unexploded ordnances (UXOs) from 2010 to 2020.

Mines and UXOs have threatened Cambodia's economic, social security and safety, Hun Sen told the National Conference on Mine Strategies.

"Even we have conducted the campaign against mines and UXOs, the Cambodian children and other people are still suffered," he said.

Cambodia still faces the problem that the de-miners could not speak French or English when they join the UN de-mining missions in other countries, Hun Sen said.

Some Cambodian soldiers who have de-mining skills do not know foreign languages, he said, adding that some soldiers who could speak foreign languages do not have de-mining skills.

Hun Sen also requested the development partners continue to help and support Cambodia in de-mining missions.

Hun Sen said that 1,640 of 13,913 villages in Cambodia are seriously suffered by mines and UXOs.

In the past decade, more than 63,000 Cambodian people have been killed, maimed or injured by mines and UXOs, he added.
