GAZA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Al-Quds Brigades, military wing of the Islamic
Jihad movement announced Monday its readiness to stop rocket attacks on Israel
when Israel stops military operations and Palestinians reach an agreement on the
issue.
"We are ready to stop the rockets (attacks) as a general national interest
as part of a comprehensive agreement by all the factions and when Israeli stops
its aggressions against the Palestinians," the brigades' spokesman Abu Hamza
told the press.
Abu Hamza noted that his remarks were in response to an offer presented by
a Palestinian faction, which he refused to mention its name.
Hussein al-Sheikh, a leader from the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas'
Fatah movement, said Sunday that Islamic Hamas movement was seeking peace with
Israel in exchange for halting the army operations against the Gaza Strip that
Hamas rules since mid-June after defeating pro-Fatah forces in the infighting
between them.
Israel declared the Gaza Strip a hostile entity in June and tightened the
siege there due to the continuation of rocket attacks by Palestinian militant
groups, mainly the Islamic Jihad.
