BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett confirmed that she is pregnant with her third child at the premiere of her new movie "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" in Sydney, according to media reports Sunday.
"Yes, yes, we're expecting a baby in April, which is
very exciting," the 38-year-old Australian actress said.
Blanchett and writer-director husband, Andrew Upton,
already have two sons: Dashiell John, 5, and Roman Robert, 3.
In "The Golden Age," Blanchett starred as the
legendary Tudor queen she first played in the 1998 British movie "Elizabeth."
"The Golden Age," like the multi-award-winning
"Elizabeth," is directed by Indian-born filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
It picks up events 15 years on from the first film,
covering Elizabeth's rivalry with Mary Queen of Scots and the threat of the
Spanish Armada, as well as The Virgin Queen's relationship with Sir Walter
Raleigh, played by Clive Owen.
Blanchett picked up numerous awards and an Oscar
nomination for her role in the first movie.
She went on to clinch an Oscar in 2005 for Best
Supporting Actress, awarded for her role as Katharine Hepburn in Martin
Scorsese's "The Aviator."
